我们先来看看area表示“领域”的用法，这个词可以指学术“领域”，此时可以和field互换。比如：
This course covers the psychological area/field.
这门课程涵盖心理学领域。
Area也可以表示交流活动领域，比如“拓宽合作领域”在报告中是open up/expand/broaden areas of cooperation，虽然也见过expand cooperation fields，但是是在比较早的报告中了，现在多见是open up/expand/broaden areas of cooperation。比如报告中这句：
我们要加快保险行业开放进程，放宽外资金融机构设立限制，扩大外资金融机构在华业务范围，拓宽中外金融市场合作领域。
We will accelerate the opening-up of the insurance industry, ease restrictions on the establishment of foreign financial institutions in China and expand their business scope, and open up more areas of cooperation between Chinese and foreign financial markets.
field表示“领域”的用法
再看看field表示“领域”的用法，这个一般指具体研究或工作的领域，是可数名词，比如牛津词典上有这么一句话：
She works in the field of environmental protection.
她从事环境保护工作。

Several applications later, all for jobs in her former field of defence, she was getting nowhere.
sector表示“领域”的用法
sector指经济里的某一特定部门，行业或领域，通常指行业，指整个行业的时候一般可以和industry互换，比如服务业是the services sector/industry，还如报告例句：
全球电力行业仍旧严重依赖煤炭。
The global power sector/industry still remains heavily dependent on coal, too.
在下面例句中的“基础设施建设、能源、通信、农业等领域”指的是行业，所以是sectors，此时也可以换为fields/areas。
中国在阿根廷投资超过100亿美元，涵盖基础设施建设、能源、通信、农业等领域，创造了数以万计的工作岗位。

horizon表示“领域”的用法
horizon表示“领域”一般指的是“范围；眼界；见识”，是可数名词。报告中一般说“新格局，新天地，新境界”等一般用horizons，如：
更重要的是，开阔了视野，增长了知识才干，实现了人生价值。
More importantly, they have broadened their horizons, acquired knowledge and greater abilities, and achieved their potential.
“打开新视野”可以说open up new horizons for sb或broaden one’s horizons，如词典例句：
The course in philosophy opened up new horizons for the students.
哲学课使学生们打开了新的视野。
Spending a year working in the city helped to broaden his horizons.
在城市工作的一年拓宽了他的视野。
