At WIPO, we believe in a new vision of IP, where IP is not just a legal right but a powerful catalyst for jobs, investments, business growth and ultimately economic and social development for all countries. As part of this, we need to develop a more inclusive IP ecosystem that works for everyone, everywhere. One that connects not just with IP specialists and IP experts, but with new, broader and more diverse communities around the world, and at the ground level. Global youth, our future innovators and creators, are at the heart of this work.
在产权组织，我们抱有一个新的知识产权愿景，那就是知识产权不只是法定权利，它还是强大的催化剂，可以促进就业，拉动投资，推动商业增长，并最终促进各国的经济和社会发展。作为其中一员，我们要发展更加包容的知识产权生态系统，让它在处处为人人服务，让它不仅连接知识产权专业人员和专家，而且连接遍布世界各地的更广泛更多元的基层新社区。全球青年作为我们未来的创新者和创造者，是这项工作的核心所在。
Today, around half of the global populations is under 30, and it is the fastest-growing demographic in many parts of the world. This new generation of innovators and creators are already devising inventive ways of tackling local and global challenges. From developing tech platforms that deliver better healthcare, to women and children in remote areas of India and Cameroon, to finding new ways of bringing STEM education to pupils in Ghana, to building cutting-edge solutions that are reducing carbon footprints in Mexico and France, young people are not just speaking up about the world that they want to see, they’re taking action to make it happen.
今天，全球人口中约有五成在30岁以下，这在世界许多地方都是增长最快的人口群体。新的这一代创新者和创造者已经在寻找创造性的方法应对本地和全球挑战。从开发出能为印度、喀麦隆的偏远地区妇女儿童提供更好医疗服务的技术平台，到寻找使加纳学生接受STEM教育的新方式，再到设计出减少墨西哥和法国碳足迹的先进解决方案，年轻人不仅在围绕他/她们的理想世界高谈阔论，而且在采取行动使理想成为现实。
This year on World Intellectual Property Day, WIPO is celebrating the vision and dynamism of young innovators and creators everywhere. And at a time when humanity needs to come together to address a range of urgent challenges, from overcoming the pandemic to combatting climate change and many others, we must help our youth to realize their innovation and creative potential.
在今年世界知识产权日之际，产权组织将要庆祝世界各地青年创新者和创造者的愿景和活力，而此时正是需要全人类携手共克一系列紧急挑战的时候。从战胜疫情到应对气候变化及其他各种挑战，我们必须帮助年轻人认识到他/她们在创新和创造方面的潜能。
Yet we know that many young innovators and creators have only a limited awareness of IP and the role it can play in bringing their innovation journey forward. So that’s why this year’s World IP Day is an opportunity to close that gap. WIPO is working with many of you to develop new initiatives that will help youths use IP to translate their ideas into world-changing products and services. And that’s why we are also encouraging our partners around the world to create programs that speak to the aspirations and needs of young people. Let us work together to ensure that the next generation have a voice in our conversations and debates about the future of the world. And let us give them the tools to shape this future by unleashing their innovative and creative potential.
但我们也深知，许多青年创新者和创造者对知识产权以及知识产权在他/她们创新之旅中所发挥的作用仅有有限的认知。这就是为什么今年世界知识产权日成为缩小这一差距的良机。产权组织和你们中的许多人在合作推出各种新倡议，以帮助青年使用知识产权将创意转化为改变世界的产品和服务。这就是为什么我们也鼓励世界各地的合作伙伴创设各种项目，满足年轻人的愿望和需求。让我们携起手来，确保下一代在我们关于世界未来的对话和辩论中发出他/她们的声音。我们要给他/她们提供工具，让他/她们充分发挥创新和创造潜能来塑造未来。
I’m very pleased to be able to celebrate World IP Day with all of you today, and we look forward at WIPO to working with you to bring about a world where IP truly serves everyone.
