“隐瞒实情”用英语怎么说？

背景：这项技术能辨识54种短暂、不自主的微表情，这些表情在大脑有机会控制面部运动之前流露在人脸上，从而让银行察觉客户没说实话。今天给大家分享第二段哈！

The banks are worried that some potential customers may be lying about the uses of loans, so they have developed systems that use smartphone cameras to detect minute facial expressions and indicate when a user is being economical with the truth.

担心一些潜在客户可能会在贷款用途上撒谎的银行，开发了相关系统，使用智能手机摄像头检测微小的面部表情，在用户隐瞒实情时发出提示。

1. 句子结构分析：这句话比较简单，The banks主语，are worried系表，that some potential customers...是表语从句。

some potential customers是从句里面的主语，be lying about是正在进行时，表示进行，so 表示原因，所以的意思，但是翻译的时候省译逻辑关系词。

that use 是 systems的定语从句，use smartphone cameras to detect是use sth do sth的短语， when a user is being economical with the truth是时间状语。

2. be worried about sth=worry about sth，一个形容词短语，一个动词短语都翻译为“担心...”所以这句话也可以写成The banks worry that...

3.“潜在客户”是一个常见表达：potential customers，也可以写做potential buyers，不妨再记一个表达法，“潜在优势”：potential advantages。

4. lie about翻译为“在...上撒谎”，翻译时比较灵活，我们看下面的例句。

BBC例句：In a video interview, she said one of the girls would lie about her age.

视频面试时，她说女孩中有人会谎报年龄。

5. 在这里，我们发现了“微表情”的第四种说法：minute facial expressions.

英语富于变化，在一篇文章中，甚至一个段落中，同一个意思最好用不同的词表达。minute除了我们熟悉的“分钟”，做形容词表示“微小的”。

《朗文字典》例句：Her handwriting is minute.她的字非常小。

6. be economical with sth表示“节约地使用某物”，be economical with the truth可想而知便是“在某事上撒谎/隐瞒真相”。

BBC例句：The new leader was being very economical with the truth when he said that he was going to create jobs for everyone. 

新领袖当时说会为每个人创造工作机会，他其实是在说谎。

7.  Economical是节约的，Economic是经济的，比如经济发展economic development
