白内障

Cataract is clouding of the lens of the eye which prevents clear vision. Although most cases of cataract are related to the ageing process, occasionally children can be born with the condition, or a cataract may develop after eye injuries, inflammation, and some other eye diseases.

白内障指晶状体混浊，阻止光线进入。多数白内障是老年性疾病，但也有儿童天生患有此病，还有人在受伤、发炎或生病后出现白内障。

与年龄相关的白内障的风险因素包括糖尿病、日光长期照射、烟草使用和饮酒等。可以通过手术摘除混浊晶状体和植入人工晶状体来恢复视力。

Many children in low- and middle-income countries are affected by preventable eye diseases that cause blindness.

Six years ago, WHO and partner LIONS Clubs International Foundation launched a worldwide project to prevent and cure most of the diseases that cause poor vision in children. The effort has benefited more than 100 million children so far, and increased access to eye care in 30 countries.

6年前，世卫组织与狮子会国际基金联合发起了一个项目，努力防治导致儿童视力问题的多数疾病。迄今共有30多个国家一亿多名儿童受益，获得了良好的眼科保健服务。
