MTI翻硕经济学人回译：旅游毁了威尼斯这座城市？
今天“高斋翻硕”雒老师Joy和小伙伴给大家分享一篇外刊回译。只分享重点部分，简单的部分由于篇幅原因就不分享了。回译练习：
威尼斯的居民抱怨这座城市游客太多，不堪重负。过去几十年，该市议会一直在努力吸引游客，不过现在正在反思这种做法。5月，市议会在这座古城的主要出入口设置了闸门。当游人太多，太过拥挤时，警察便会关闭闸门，只有持有特殊通行证的当地人才能进入。虽然此举可以限制游客数量，但这种凭票入内的做法还是引起了部分当地人的不满。

经济学人原文：
Locals have complained that Venice is being overrun by visitors.Having spent decades trying to attract tourists, the city council is now rethinking its approach. In May iterected pedestrian gates across the historic neighbourhood’s main entrances. Whencrowds get too thick, the police will close them, limiting access to locals who possess a special pass. Although this will restrict the number of visitors, the idea of ticketed entry has upset some locals.
讲解笔记：
1. 抱怨：这个很简单吧，后面直接是that从句。学了这么多年英语，如果这个再不会翻译，那就有点对不起自己学了这么多年了。
2. 过去几十年，该市议会一直在努力吸引游客，不过现在正在反思这种做法：考验水平的时候到了，先顺句驱动翻译下，初步会翻译为：
For the past decades, the city council has been trying/endeavoring/striving/working to attract tourists, but now it is reflecting on the decision/what it has done.
不过，这句话其实有更简洁的翻译，可以把之前做的部分用现在分词表示，作状语，把现在的情况作主句。
如果你有这种思路了，说明你的翻译水平已经上了一个台阶了，经济学人原文走起：Having spent decades trying to attract tourists, the city council is now rethinking its approach.
原来这么简洁：For the past decades, ...原来可以直接说Having spent decades doing...
reflecting on the decision/what it has done原来也可以说rethinking its approach。
牛逼啊！学翻译就要向高手学习，学习其精妙用词。
3. 当游人太多，太过拥挤时，警察便会关闭闸门，只有持有特殊通行证的当地人才能进入：我之前看卫报的时候见过一句话：
Parents of exam takes were packed tight around the school gate. 家长们拥堵在校门口。
（其实就是公号“高斋外刊双语精读”上篇推送里面的，为了让大家认真学英语，也是操碎了心，可是不少人似乎自己学英语和学翻译的热情不高，那就随便吧，总有热情高的，你热情高，我热情高，我们才能一起愉快玩耍嘛！不强求不热爱的非得来凑个热闹）。
这样的话be packed tight是不是就可以用在这里了，packed顾名思义是拥挤的意思，tight更能说明人挤人，很形象啊。
反正你如果翻译为when there are a lot of tourists，我是看不下去的，不是鄙视，而是送你一首凉凉和下面这个表情，自己体会。
噢，对了，我们还常见的是When crowds get too thick。
“警察便会关闭闸门，只有持有特殊通行证的当地人才能进入”这句话你会怎么翻译？同样足以考验你的水平了。
你是不是翻译为the police will close them and only locals who possess a special pass can enter it.
太老土了，看看经济学人原文，佩服吧，一个limiting伴随状语，一个固定表达limiting access to，杠杠滴表达出来了：
the police will close them, limiting access to locals who possess a special pass.
4. 这种凭票入内的做法还是引起了部分当地人的不满： “引起不满”有太多表达了，cause disaffection among sb, arouse resentment among sb; be vocal in one's displeasure over sth;upset sb, annoy sb；
或者sb作主语，sb express dissatisfaction with, sb resent sth；be not pleased/satisfied with sth；
"做法“翻译为the practice或the idea都可以的，正所谓”你所做便是你所想“！
